Coyote Gulch Backpacking Trip

I had my doubts about the need to travel 7 hours just to have a good backpacking trip with the young men in the ward. All my doubts disappeared once we got there. As you can see from the pictures… GORGIOUS!

Too get into the gulch we had to drop our packs over a ledge with rope and then squeeze through a narrow crack down into the valley. I'd show you a picture but we did it in the dark!

On our first night I upset a swarm of bees or hornets (once again it was too dark to be sure) but otherwise we came out of it without any real hiccups. The hike is mostly through a stream of water with occassional sand trails on the bank. We saw 4 different arches and some indian ruins. A once in a lifetime experience that I'm hoping to duplicate with my family.

Looks awesome, but How do you duplicate a once in a lifetime experience. Hmmm???

Wow! I need to paint that place. Can you send me the photos? Works better in email-to-desktop as I learned from Heidi's Yosemite ones. Alan was nostalgic when we told him where you were, Sat.

Where are the pictures with you in them? You could have googled these pics! I want to see the hornets all over you! Get a video camera going man!

Kody you caught me in the act… I didn't have a camera with me and instead of waiting the potential weeks to get pictures from some of the other people who were there I did in fact google these pics. In all fairness however they are all pictures of things I did see and they look just like I remember them!

    Hi,

My husband and I are thinking about hiking with our two young children into Coyote Gulch this summer. Do you know if the heat and deer flies are so terrible as to make this hike a bad experience in the summer?

I was there in early August and (other than a rough encounter with some bees) didn’t have any complaints to the bugs or heat. There are some great natural springs where you can top off with water to ensure proper hydration.
