More often than not,our sense of belonging is pivoted on relationship, good relationship. therefore relationship becomes an asset if it's built on sincerity with oneself and others, patience and a sense of purpose.

Comment on The Principles that Govern Network Marketing are Superior to those that Govern Traditional Business by Dan Farfan

Good article.
There is an additional dynamic worth noting. In the "old days" the "staff" and the "company" had an unwritten deal, "You give me your work that is actually more valuable than what I compensate you (company needs to make a profit), and you get job security in return for that difference."

Well, not so funny thing happened on the way to the 90's. Job security all but disappeared. It certainly can't be assumed any longer. In other words, "the company" stopped giving their part. And the employee stopped getting something. But the employee must still accept compensation for their effort that is less than their contribution to the company (because the company still must make a profit).

The unspoken bargain between employer and employee is no more. Yet their compensation was never adjusted, because it can't be under the old model. Employees are expected to just accept the new inequities of modern employment.

I say ending that unfair relationship as quickly as possible is the only way for a person to maintain (reclaim) self-respect. Your compensation should be directly tied to your measurable contribution to the endeavor.

That's exactly why I created my social networking game website this way. I made a marketplace game out of all the photos on Facebook that Facebook users can play for free.

Imagine, a social networking website that doesn't make a few kids into billionaires, but instead shares revenues with all users ... according to their contribution to the success of the game. The details are on the website after you "Enter Your Gallery."

Hope to see you there!

Google is being run by Indians, managerially and technically. Even though Page and Schmidt are CEO and Executive Chairman of Big G, but still we can’t forget that it was Amit Singhal, an IIT Roorkey Graduate, who re-wrote the whole algorithm of Google Search Engine in 2000 which made Google the best in the industry. Then, Nikesh Arora of BHU-IT is the Chief Business Manager; Vic Goundotra is the man behind the whole Google Plus… and, many many more.
Interesting post!

I made the large mistake about six months ago, of using on of the 'get followers' services. I thought it was a way to more easily connect with people who were interested in what I was. Instead I ended up with a slew of people that only posted about who to follow and who they followed in between other really vulgar and icky tweets. I learned my lesson! :-)

One of my annoyances are the impersonal and sterile DMs that come automatically after I follow someone. I mean, at least write a good one!

Depending on where I am at in life, it can take me a month to follow someone back. I don't auto-follow because I want to take a few minutes to make sure we will have a nourishing connection with each other.

So, when I get the chance to follow the people, I see them re-follow me. So, I know they followed me just to get me to follow me back in the first place. I don't unfollow them, but I am less likely to connect with them further.

Our time is valuable, and we don't have time to waste anywhere, including Twitter with people who are purely 'takers', so, you don't sound angry at all, just very wise with your time! :-D

Have an excellent day!

Catherine,

Thank you for the thoughtful comment. You bring up a really good point. As a business owner you do have to be selective at some level. I'll put together an article in the next few weeks! Thanks again!

I agree that Google Plus has gigantic potential, provided it overcomes the impression of "social network overload syndrome" that many people, including I, suffer. After much reluctance, I joined Google Plus yesterday but am not sure how I will juggle one more social medium! I find your articles very inspiring, Jacob S. Paulsen. Would you write an article on finding the right social media participation balance? As a business owner who relies on social media for much of my marketing, what are some good strategies to prevent my social media participation from negatively impacting my personal and family life? Thank you for allowing me to discover you by following me on Twitter! I will definitely include your blog in my morning reading routine!
