Best Halloween Costume Plus Free Cell Phone Chargers

Somebody emailed me this video this week and I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.

Also, today I aquired a new cell phone charger for free. A few weeks ago my brother Jeff lost my cell phone charger and I’m too cheap to buy a new one. So with a quick inspiration I stopped by the local Marriott hotel on my way home. I figure that hotels must have a massive collection of lost cell phone chargers and I was right. I just told them I was in need of a new charger and asked if I could go through their lost and found. They pulled out a massive box with different brands of chargers seperated into various ziplock bags. I quickly identified one that would work on my phone and they said I could keep it.

Social Bookmarking Syndication:: Onlywire

I’ve been looking for this for years! Don’t you grow tired of the time you spend trying to syndicate a good blog post or article? You could spend 15 minutes submitting a link to Digg, Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, StumbleUpon, etc.  For some time I have been looking for a service that would allow me to submit a link to all of these Social Bookmarking sites at once. Imagine the time that you would save.

social bookmarking

At this point we have a great service for syndicating pictures and videos (pixelpipe) and a great service for updating our statuses on various sites at once (ping.fm). The good news is that FINALLY we have a Social Bookmarking syndicator. ONLYWIRE has come along just to end my nightmares! OnlyWire offers both free and paid accounts and so far my experience has been fantastic. They offer various tools such as browser plugins and more to help you readily syndicate content.

My very favorite part of the service is their WordPress plugin. I have removed my traditional “Add to Any” plugin that is most widely used on wordpress blogs to enable readers to syndicate a post/article and in it’s place I have placed the OnlyWire syndication button. In addition to having the same options to share a link with any one service users can also setup their own OnlyWire account to submit the link to all their social bookmarking services at once.

This is a huge WIN/WIN for readers and blog owners alike. Think how much more likely links are to be syndicated to various networks with the new ease of the OnlyWire system. I am encouraging all blog owners and internet marketers to subscribe to OnlyWire and install the plugin on their sites. The more users we can get plugged into the system the better it will be for all of us. Simply go to the bottom of this or any other post on my site and hover your mouse over the bookmark button. Create your own account and submit this article to all your networks. If you have your own blog go install the OnlyWire plugin to get your readers on the same service!!!!

Warning: Not all bookmarking services can be submitted to automatically. Sites such as Digg.com require human verification in order to finalize a submission. OnlyWire will automatically syndicate your link to as many social bookmarking sites as possible and then send you an email with notice should you need to manually finish the process for any specific services.

How Business Growth Works – The Plateau Principle

Sometimes the most frustrating thing for an entrepreneur can be stagnant results over a period of hard and consistent work. That is why its important for all people to understand the Plateau Principle and how it works in every aspect of your life.

The principle put simple is, “All growth happens in sudden increases followed by periods of flat and maintained results.” This is true in your spiritual, intelectual, financial, emotional, and interpersonal lives. For whatever reason the world sees fit you also experience grown in sudden explosions that come after a period of hard and consistent growth which until that moment had only yeilded flat results.

business growth plateau

If you can learn to accept this principle as a reality then you can learn from it and act in accordance. First, understand that growth will only come if you are consistent in doing what is necessary to achieve it, and only after a period of time with seemingly flat results. Second understand that the greatest moments in your life will be short moments of explosive growth. Learn to recognize these moments and take full advantage of them. Record them, declare them, share them with others, and do everything possible to get maximum growth from these moments.

Warning:: Understanding this principle will mean you have the disciple to work hard and patiently wait the explosive moments. What you need to fear is potential recession. If you are always consistent in your effort you will never have negative growth but if you slip in your daily disciplines you are bound to lose momentum and fall. This is your worst enemy.

Jacob S Paulsen

Action:: If you are frustrated in your relationships with loved ones, your spiritual progression, your business, or any other aspect of your life consider where you are in the Plateau curve. Frustration usually comes after a long period of flat results and sadly if you lose focus or stop the daily activities you will fall backwards in the very moment before your next growth curve is set to take place!

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Recruiters

You are probably familiar with Stephen Covey’s best seller The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The principles taught in that book are powerful and true.

Today I am going to use his basic outline of habits to teach you how to be an effective recruiter in your MLM business. These simple principle based steps can take you from the bottom ranks of your company to the very top if you will study and apply them in sequential order.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective (MLM) Network Marketers

Habit 1Be Proactive: Principles of Personal Vision

  1. The first step in creating a residual income is pro-activity.
  2. Taking action steps to make an initial list of potential recruits and calling them to set up appointments.
  3. Taking personal initiative to make sure that each member of your team is plugged into the emails, trainings, and meetings.
  4. Inviting team members to local & regional events, and setting up these events if not already available to you.
  5. Training each of your reps individually, or making sure they are trained.
  6. Scheduling time together with each direct enrollment to hold them accountable to their goals.

Habit 2Begin with the End in Mind: Principles of Personal Leadership

  1. Deciding early on what your objectives are. What do you truly wish to accomplish in your business, and what do you want your team to accomplish?
  2. Creating a synergistic mission statement that reflects your goals and objectives and those of your team as a whole.
  3. Beginning each event, activity, or meeting knowing what you want to get out of it, and what you wish for your team members and guests to get out of it.
  4. Foreseeing possible problems with retention, discouragement, etc.
  5. Taking the proper steps to prepare to be an effective teacher, leader and trainer.

Habit 3  Put First Things First: Principles of Personal Management

  1. Understanding the four quadrants of effective production and knowing how to apply that to your personal & team’s activity. Focusing on Revenue Producing Activities!
  2. Creating habits of time management and effective planning.
  3. Reserving time for all your roles in life, so as not to neglect something.
  4. Setting time aside each week for Recruiting, Retaining, and Training.

Habit 4Think Win/Win: Principles of Interpersonal Leadership

mlm

  1. Commit yourself to Win/Win or no deal. Agree to enroll people who you need in your business and who need your business.
  2. Look for the recruit’s win in your business opportunity. Specifically what will this mean in their life?
  3. Continue to show team members the win in each part of the MLM experience.
  4. Help create the win by getting the new recruits plugged into the proper system of activities.
  5. Lead by example. Help each new member of your team grow by being a part of their personal production.

Habit 5Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood

  1. Seek to understand the situation of each contact. Find out what they want out of the experience and what has brought them far enough to listen to you.
  2. Practice active listening skills. Truly listen to your recruits and your team members to best understand their desires.
  3. Continue building a relationship with your team to develop trust and credibility through listening to and understanding them.
  4. Only when the rep trusts you and believe you understand them, and have their best interests in mind will they follow you.

Habit 6  Synergize Principles of Creative Communication

  1. Create environments of synergy in recruiting, retaining, and training arenas.
  2. Practice habits 4 & 5 in making synergistic moments happen.
  3. Synergize with each rep individually and with the team as a whole.
  4. Seek out potential synergistic activities, such as creating the team mission statement, local events, etc.
  5. Understand the unique abilities that each of your leaders have and think of how best to utilize them.
  6. Seek out the very best training in the industry and in your company from the top leaders.

Habit 7  Sharpen the Saw: Principles of Balanced Self-Renewal

  1. Set aside Monthly, Weekly, and Daily planning and evaluation sessions.
  2. Renew your commitments and covenants in all aspects of life through sincere evaluation.
  3. Evaluate the best and less effective practices that you have been using in recruiting, retaining, and training your office.
  4. Review this and other handouts and notes that will increase your effectiveness in recruiting, retaining, and training your office.

Harry Potter On Personal Development:: The Need To Know

harry potter

The Need to Know concept is mostly illustrated by Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series. Even when Snape asks him to explain what he is doing in his private lessons with Harry, Dumbledore replies with, “I prefer not to put all my secrets in one basket,…”

Dumbledore was a man of as few words as he could manage. This goes against human nature. Each of us has a natural desire to be part of a conversation and without even consciously thinking about it we naturally desire to turn the topic towards ourselves. Few things are as inherent in mankind as the constant need to talk about oneself. With that having been said Dumbledore’s relationships did not suffer because he was short or cold with people. He found a happy middle.

It is a sign of true control when one learns to master his tongue. I suspect that when Dumbledore was engaged in any conversation his thought process what probably closer to “does this person need to know this….” than to “there isn’t any reason I shouldn’t tell this person this…” What is this minor difference? The difference is between only telling people what is necessary and telling people anything or everything as long as you can’t forsee any future harm in it.

We never know what the future might hold or what things today that may seem insignificant might one day become important. However, we must not take this idea to the other extreme. Its one thing to control the human tendency to talk about oneself at every chance and a much different thing to tell people nothing at all. If we all spoke to each other in short, simple, need to know only statements the world would not be a better place.

Remember that our greatest assets are our relationships and making and maintaining strong relationships means sharing yourself with others, becoming transparent, and even dependent on one another. I’m simply suggesting that we bridle the natural human need to tell people everything we can about everything we feel is important to us. Its only in the happy middle of these two extremes that control and thus power over ourselves and our relationships can be strengthened.

Jacob S. Paulsen

Action: Be more conscious as you converse with others. Look back on your conversations to catch yourself bringing the subjects constantly back to you.

Do you know where Nike came from?

prefontaine

I know this might come as a shock but Nike was not born to give Micheal Jordan something to wear. Nike was born to fit the shoe of running legend Steve Prefontaine. Running sports have never had a large following perhaps because they just aren’t as much fun to watch or because they tend to be individual efforts instead of a team sport. What you need to know is that Steve Prefontaine was to running as Tiger Woods is to golf.  Legendary…

Steve Prefontaine wasn’t only famous because he held the National record in 7 different track events but more so because of the way he raced. He liked to give people something to watch and make a show out of it but what you have to understand the most about Steve is that he was a “front runner.” Front running is a term used to describe the foolish runner who leads the pack in a race. The lead runner takes battles up to 70% higher wind resistance than the runner who runs in his wake. Even olympic team members will take turns leading the pack while their star runner stays behind until the final moments. The thing about Steve isn’t that he ran in the front on ocassion but that he always led every single race from the start to the end.

He did it for one simple reason. He understood what running is really all about more than any other human in history. He understood that the only way to finish as a true winner is to give it everything that you got every single step of the way. He didn’t pace himself and he didn’t believe in strategy… he believed in winning out of pure guts…. and he did it almost every time.

His college track coach Bill Bowerman was the founder of Nike. He was famous for his waffle iron, home-made running shoes that he made for each of his runners. He founded Nike under the ideals that Steve Prefontaine lived. Next time you slip on your Nikes remember Steve Prefontaine and how he raced.

Action: Consider what you can do to step up to the plate. What are you afraid of and what is holding you back? What are the best people in your industry doing that you are afraid of doing?

Action: Watch the movie “Without Limits

Steve Prefontaine Quotes:

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more. – Steve Prefontaine

I run to see who has the most guts. – Steve Prefontaine

I’m going to work so that it’s a pure guts race at the end, and if it is, I am the only one who can win it. – Steve Prefontaine

Somebody may beat me, but they are going to have to bleed to do it. – Steve Prefontaine

Something inside of me just said ‘Hey, wait a minute, I want to beat him,’ and I just took off. – Steve Prefontaine

To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift. – Steve Prefontaine

What I want is to be number one. – Steve Prefontaine

You have to wonder at times what you’re doing out there. Over the years, I’ve given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement. – Steve Prefontaine

Harry Potter Personal Development:: Compassion and Kindness

For the first time I’m writing about what we can learn from Harry’s mistakes and not his example. Please understand that I think the Harry Potter character is human and of course is bound to make mistakes if the novel is to be good.

harry potterHarry Potter complains about his aunt and uncle and their lame Christmas gifts each year but did he ever send them anything? Harry hates Malfoy and for good reason but does he ever do anything at all to even try to help or mend the relationship?

Harry Potter is young and perhaps we should only expect so much from him, but we can learn from this bad example. A little compassion and understanding can go a long way. When it all comes down to it I dare say that in the 7 books we read Harry never gives his family a reason to love him. Even when people treat us with complete disregard and contempt we must learn to take the higher road and show kindness and respect to everyone. The attitude that we learn to adopt in our lives always comes back to us even if it takes time.

Action steps: Think of the people with whom you have a rough relationship and sort out a way to mend it. Often times transparent communication is a good place to start.
